The motion,  "Minigrant proposals will only be reviewed if all required signatures are included upon submission"  was read and discussed. Tom seconded the motion.  Tom said that he feels like all proposals should go to committee.  The consensus view was that if a proposal is clearly problematic, the dean should discuss the problem with the proposer and have the problem rectified, if possible, prior to sending to committee.  The dean's signature is the go-ahead for the committee.  It is not in place so that the dean must take all the responsibility for determining the proposal's appropriateness, but rather that the dean acknowledges that the proposal could be advantageous for increasing student learning through assessment.  The motion carried as is unanimously.

The motion,  "Grant proposals will only be accepted September 1, December 1, February 1, and May 1 of each year. The mini-grant sub-committee will decide within two weeks of submittal"  was amended (Tom moved, and Monica seconded, to strike "September 1, December 1, February 1, and May 1" and change to "September 15, November 15, February 15, and April 15".  The motion carried unanimously.

The motion, "Any faculty member or department may submit any number of mini-grant proposals, however, the mini-grant subcommittee may decide to postpone awarding multiple grants until the next submission date"  was seconded by Doug and passed unanimously without discussion.

The three ENG-department proposals  were discussed and voted upon for action:

GenEd proposal: Vote was 1 Yes, 6 No, on the grounds that it seeks to pay faculty for regular duties.

Video purchase: Unanimous consensus was to return the proposal, encouraging proposers to resubmit.  The corrective measures have been sent to the proposer before and will be re-sent.

Sigma Kappa Delta: Unanimous consensus was accept the proposal upon the condition that assessment measures be developed and sent to the committee prior to disbursing any funds.

Respectfully submitted,
