Subject: Oct26 All-Faculty Workshop
Friday, October 26 will be an
All-Faculty Workshop from 10am-2pm with lunch provided. The purpose is to
review and update all program-level assessment plans. Because a program
is more than the sum of courses that make it up, the program-level assessment
assesses those program-level goals.
We will meet by program area to
review and update program-level assessment plans. The 'Status of TSJC Program
Assessments' web page at www.trinidadstate.edu/AISL/aps/status.htm consists
of a table with each program constituting one row of the table. The
columns are Program Name, Status, Responsible Administrator, Faculty Lead,
AISLC Contact, and Degree Options - Campus, respectively. If you find any
errors in this table, please notify via e-mail me and everyone involved.
The Status field shows two things: a
number and a letter. These represent the level to which the program-level
assessment plan exists and an estimate of the implementation level,
respectively. The keys for these fields is at the top of the Status web
page.
Our goal for the Oct 26 workshop is
to get all plans to 5 AND to develop plans that will:
a. generate useful
data - for curriculum adjustment and future planning, i.e., strategic planning;
b. be easily
implement-able. Developing good and useful data need not add a lot to
your workload.
c. be easily
reported. I am open to ideas to improve the online assessment form ( www.trinidadstate.edu/AISL/reports/asp/form.html )so
that it can be used to report course-level as well as program-level
assessments.
I will send, via e-mail, the
submitted data from each program area to assigned faculty lead within the next
week.
Please do two things with this:
(1) Forward via e-mail to me, the
assigned AISLC Contact, and all faculty involved in your program area.
(2) Prior to 10/26, review the data
and your existing program-level assessment plan. I will use the forwarded
e-mail to communicate with each program area.
By the way, you can look up any data
in the reporting database by using http://www.trinidadstate.edu/aisl/reports/asp/search.html
We have scheduled four hours for the
workshop because this is the approximate maximum time required to review and
update a program-level plan. Many of you will be done sooner. Some
will be almost done before the workshop starts, so you will only have to come
to the beginning to have the AISLC accept your plan documents.
