The mission of the Construction Technology Department is to help the students acquire the occupational/ technical knowledge and skills which will enable them to enter the work force as well prepared individuals

Graduates from the certificate program will be able to enter the construction field in a carpentry level job or higher. Graduates from the AAS degree program will be able to enter the construction field at a lead, foreman, management or self employed position

Pre/post test

Module tests during chapters and topics and at end of chapters, quizzes, and graded on to- scale models of  different components of a building or home

Data collected will be used to see where the students strength and weaknesses are and help them to gain better understanding in the areas they need help in

Results will help define the construction Technology program to keep growing with the industry along with helping to serve the community by providing better trained crafts people and will help the students to obtain gainful employment

Students will acquire a wide range of exposure to the many aspects of residential and commercial construction. Students will also obtain certification in various tools, methods, equipment and materials

Students will meet with individuals who are involved in the construction industry and be able to work with and along side them in a professional capacity

Pass testing and certification for the following.

Skid steer operator

Powder actuated tools

Fire stop

30-Hr OSHA

 

By obtaining these certificates the students will be more employable and also give the student a greater sense of self worth

 

Students are required to meet with and  submit applications for building permits, submit letters of approval from engineers and architects,

Figure mathematical formulas with inspectors, vendors and engineers for spans, volume , quantities, costs, time- projections, and estimating

The objective of meeting with and interacting with the before mentioned individuals is to enhance their communication skills.

The students will learn the basic math functions and formulas to complete the before mentioned problems

Students will be evaluated by the before mentioned individuals, and will be graded according to the out come of their applications and letters.

By having the students interact with professionals , it  will help build confidence in dealing with the public and other individuals

Will give the students the basic math knowledge to calculate the answers needed to build or carry on construction business as needed on the job
