To educate and qualify students for careers in technical fields and to assist them in securing employment in these fields

 

Acquire the technical knowledge and skills which will permit students to enter the medical office as well-prepared employees

 

Graduates will obtain employment in medical offices or other health-care situations or update and expand current medical assisting skills

VE-135

 

All graduates are contacted in spring of following year

70% of graduates will obtain employment in the field of medical assisting within one year or receive a promotion in their current  employment

Program chair will develop VE-135 data from students.  This data is also sent to the state and available online.

Understand the theory and demonstrate the practical applications in the medical office

 

Pass the CMAA exam

National Healthcareer  Association CMAA exam

Students will be encouraged to sit for the certification exam the semester immediately following graduation

70% of graduates will pass and be designated as Certified Medical Administrative Assistants

CMAA exam will be administered by the program chair or approved test proctor on the Valley Campus, which is a designated testing site.

Perform specific tasks for specific jobs or for clusters of related jobs

 

Demonstrate proficiency in the skills required to be successful in medical assisting field

Pre and Post Tests and Comprehensive Projects

For each course, students will complete pre-and post tests or comprehensive projects

70% of students earn 70% or better

Program instructors will grade, analyze, record and report to assessment database online
