Mission Statement

 

Trinidad State Junior College enriches the academic, technical, and cultural life of our diverse community. 

We are committed to offering traditional and alternative approaches to education, providing quality instruction, and promoting lifelong learning.

 

Vision Statement Goals

 

Trinidad State Junior College will continue to be an active partner in building and maintaining academic excellence and economic vitality in the region it serves.  This will be accomplished through the following goals:

 

1. Student Access

a)      To create and market innovative educational programs, including programs delivered via distance learning and other alternative approaches, in order to meet the needs of all segments of our service area.  

2.  Student Success

a)      To educate and qualify students for careers in technical fields and to assist them in securing employment in these fields. 

b)      To prepare students to transfer to baccalaureate institutions and to excel in their baccalaureate studies. 

c)      To provide challenging learning opportunities – English as a Second Language, GED, and developmental studies – that prepare students for college-level work. 

d)      To foster an atmosphere of friendliness, civility, and respect and to provide support programs which promote student learning and success. 

e)      To hire faculty and staff that are of the highest quality and reflective of our diverse community, to treat them with integrity and respect, to have their pay reflective of their experience and education within the community college system, and to provide ample opportunities for their professional development.   

3.  Operational Excellence

a)      To ensure that the campus is run efficiently; that modern technology is employed in all facets of the college’s operations; that the college is clean, safe, and provides a pleasant learning environment; and that it secures the funding necessary to advance the excellence of its programs. 

b)      To monitor the college’s performance in all areas and to use the data gathered to improve the college’s overall effectiveness. 

c)      To provide shared governance opportunities by which college faculty and staff participate in significant institutional decisions.

4.  Community Relationships

a)      To provide the training needed to help recruit businesses to our community and to enable local businesses to become more productive.

b)      To present opportunities for cultural enrichment and life-long learning for our community.
