Trinidad State Junior College enriches the academic, technical, and cultural life of our diverse community. 

We are committed to offering traditional and alternative approaches to education, providing quality instruction, and promoting lifelong learning.

 

Vision Statement and Goals

 

Trinidad State Junior College will continue to be an active partner in building and maintaining academic excellence and economic vitality in the region it serves.  This will be accomplished through:

 

1. Student Access

a)      Enhancing institutional flexibility to develop programs and services;

b)      Improving access through technology;

c)      Developing non-traditional delivery and instructional methods, and providing technical training for staff to implement such changes;

d)      Encouraging and celebrating diversity in our students, faculty, and staff;

 

2.  Student Success

a)      Creating a learning culture where continuous improvement is a central value guided by assessment of student academic achievement;

b)      Providing a supportive and dynamic environment in which to learn and develop as individuals and communities;

c)      Challenging students to explore their full potential through rigorous academics, diverse campus organizations, and innovative career experiences;

d)      Encouraging students to become self-reliant lifelong learners;

 

3.  Operational Excellence

a)      Analyzing occupational trends and serving in a pro-active role to meet the changing educational needs of our service areas;

b)      Improving communication to support productive relationships among stakeholders;

c)      Building shared governance under which college faculty and staff participate in significant decisions about the operation of our institution;

d)      Securing sufficient resources to facilitate and support college programs and initiatives;

 

4.  Community Relationships

a)      Cultivating and strengthening partnerships within the community to meet academic and economic needs;

b)      Providing workforce and enhanced customized training;

c)      Continuing to serve as a cultural center for the community, providing programs and activities which augment the quality of life in the areas we serve.
