“PALS” visits Cosmetology
On Wednesday February 1, Tim Dellet, who shepherds the PALS children ages five to nine, paid his regular visit to the TSJC Valley Campus Cosmetology Department where he and his many charges were treated to hair styles and/or manicures.
Twice each semester Tim brings these little ones to the college to give the students the opportunity to work with them and provide positive experiences. On the website the “PALS” program (Positive Activities Lift the Spirit) is a part of the larger La Puente home organization, which provides emergency shelter, food assistance, transitional housing, self-sufficiency services, homeless prevention, community outreach services, and job training for the homeless and other community members in crisis.
Gayle Trujillo, Director of TSJC Cosmetology, said, “We close to clients for four hours and devote ourselves to these amazing children. We always treat them to juice and a snack and we make sure they leave with a little something in their hand.”
