Tucker captivated TSJC employees

Bethanie TuckerBethanie Tucker, co-author of Understanding and Engaging Under-Resourced College Students, captivated approximately 60 TSJC employees as she presented a five-hour “aha Process, Inc.” workshop during the Faculty In-Service at the TSJC Valley Campus on January 12. Her illustrations, including a short film featuring a family living in poverty, gave those attending a much clearer view of the challenges faced. Drawing from her real-life experiences as one raised in poverty, Tucker illustrated the “hidden rules” regarding poverty, middle class, and the wealthy. Her dynamic presentation left the audience with a much greater appreciation and understanding of all classes, along with tools to address student needs.
