Governor Bill Owens Proclaims March 8, 2006 as All-Colorado Academic Team Day
Quinten Niccoli and Matthew Boepple two of Trinidad State Junior College’s students
(PTK) students were amongst twenty-seven students that were inducted to the Phi Theta Kappa All-Colorado Academic Team at the State Capitol on March 8, 2006 at a recognition ceremony. Colorado Senators, Representatives and Colorado’s President of Colorado Community College System and Colorado’s Community Colleges Presidents were in attendance. The 2006 Phi Theta Kappa All-Colorado Academic Team was proudly presented by: Colorado State Employees Credit Union, Johnson Controls, Inc., Johnson & Wales University, Microsoft Corporation, Regis University and University of Phoenix. After the recognition ceremony they were treated to a honorary luncheon sponsored by the Colorado State Employees Credit Union at the Majestic Ballroom in the Adam’s Mark Hotel.
The TSJC students each received a $20,000 scholarship ($10,000 for two years of study) from Johnson & Wales University, Denver campus; a $1,000 scholarship from University of Phoenix; one tuition free, classroom course in the School for Professional Studies at Regis University; a Microsoft Student Software package; a plaque along with several nice gifts.
Quinten Michael Niccoli is the 20 year old son of Gerald & Kim Niccoli. He is currently a sophomore at Trinidad State Junior College majoring in Civil Engineering. Upon graduation, May 12, 2006, he plans to transfer to Colorado State University-Pueblo to obtain a bachelors degree in Engineering. He has been a member of Phi Theta Kappa for two years and is currently the Treasurer. He received the Collegiate All-American Scholar Award; is a member of Who’s Who Among Student’s in American Junior Colleges. He has been on the National Dean’s List and President’s list for the past three semesters.
Matthew Boepple is the son of Randal and Patti Boepple. He was home schooled until he graduated from high school at the age of 14. He was then chosen to be a youth ambassador from People to People to represent the USA and the state of Colorado to Great Britton during the summer before starting college at the age of 15 years old. He is currently a student at Trinidad State Junior College, majoring in Computer Information Systems and has completed the CISCO certificate program with a 4.0 GPA. He has been a member of Phi Theta Kappa for two years. Upon graduation, May 12, 2006, he plans to transfer to a university to work towards a bachelor's degree, and pursue a career as a computer network engineer. He hopes to attend the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and serve as an officer in the U.S. Air Force.
