Elementary Education Emphasis

A minimum of 50 semester credit hours, including a minimum of 35 semester hours from the AA General Education Degree Requirements is necessary to complete the degree. Each student must see an advisor to make sure the requirements are met.

By selecting a specific emphasis of study at TSJC, the student who is planning to transfer to a four-year college or university has the opportunity to lay the foundation for their educational career.

If you plan to teach on the secondary level, you will have to earn your bachelor's degree in a major subject and supplement that with license requirements. Prospective secondary teachers should study carefully the requirements of the four-year institution they plan to attend after TSJC.

The following courses are approved fro the first 30 hours of transfer credit for students who plan to teach elementary school. Additional requirements are being developed.
