TSJC OSHT News:

  • New prefixes for speech courses:

May 2008 - The course prefixes for all speech courses have been changed from SPE to COM. Therefore, the previously required SPE 115 or SPE 125 course is now COM 115 or COM 125. If you have already taken SPE 115 or SPE 125, not to worry; it will still count toward your degree requirements. It's the same course, just a different prefix.

  • Application fee waiver for certification exams:

The Council on Certification of Health, Environmental and Safety Technologists (CCHEST) has approved a waiver of the Occupational Safety and Health Technologist (OHST) and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) application fees for graduates of ABET-ASAC accredited associate degree programs. TSJC graduates with an AAS in Occupational Safety and Health are eligible. Since this program is retroactive, those who graduated in 2003-2007 are also eligible. Occupational Safety and Health students in their last semester qualify for the waiver as well. For more information, contact the TSJC OSHT program at 1-888-736-2883 or osh@trinidadstate.edu.
