Financial Aid

PLUS Loan:

Parents of dependent students can borrow from this loan program to help pay the cost of their student’s undergraduate education. This loan is credit based. TSJC requires that a FAFSA be filed for students whose parents would like to borrow through the PLUS Loan program.

To Apply for a PLUS Loan

Step 1: Click on the PDF link and print the application. Complete, sign the application and return the application to the Financial Aid Office at the campus your student is attending.

Step 2: Logon to https://studentloans.gov. Under Manage My Direct Loan sign in using your Federal Student Aid PIN .

  • Click on Complete PLUS Request Process
  • Click on Request a Plus Loan
  • Click on Parent Plus
  • Complete Steps 1 through 4.

Parent PLUS Loan eligibility is contingent upon approved credit. The result of your credit check will determine your next step.

Step 3: If your credit is approved:
Complete an electronic Master Promissory Note (eMPN) online at https://studentloans.gov. Your Federal Student Aid PIN is required.

If your credit is denied:
Direct Loans will send you information on how to repair your credit or obtain an endorser. If your credit is repaired or you obtain and endorser, you can complete an electronic Master Promissory Note (eMPN) online at https://studentloans.gov. Your Federal Student Aid PIN is required.

If your credit is denied and you are not able to obtain an endorser or repair your credit, the student may borrow an additional unsubsidized loan. Contact the Financial Aid Office.
