About the Program
There are two program options available in the Automotive Service Technology Program. The Certificate program is a concentrated curriculum designed to prepare you for entry level employment in the automotive service industry. This two semester program consists of all the automotive core courses. A total of 52 credit hours are required for the certificate.
The second program option is the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree. The degree program is ideal for those who wish to advance to a management or supervisory position. A total of 71 credit hours are required to receive the degree.
About the Facilities
The facilities offer 15,000 square feet of shop floor space and can houses 25 individual stalls. The equipment required to stay updated for current automotive gas and diesel engines has been updated with a grant from Phil Long Dealerships. All of the equipment is state-of-the-art that is typically found in modern car and truck facilities.
Career Options
Typical careers for Automotive Service technology graduates include: car and truck dealership service technicians, service writers, service managers, independent repair facility technicians, or parts department counter persons or managers. It is estimated that there are 60,000 unfilled automotive service positions. The demand currently exceeds the supply by more than 40%.
