Raton High School standout Claire Honeyfield recently signed a letter of intent to play for the 2008 Lady Trojan volleyball team. Claire is a 5’2” libero/defensive specialist who plans on majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Trinidad State.
In high school Claire was a National Qualifier in BPA and All District AAA. She admires her father the most in life and Shawn White is her favorite athlete. The Capitals are her favorite sports team. Claire’s favorite sports moment is when US Soccer player Brandi Chastain ripped off her jersey at the World Cup.
Claire has many hobbies including snowboarding, wakeboarding, water skiing as well as tap and ballet dancing. Her favorite movie is “Superstar”.
Claire chose to come to TSJC because, “I wanted to continue competing in sports. I love competition. Also the welding program caught my attention because of the great curriculum and experienced teachers.”
“Claire is a very aggressive player,” commented Trojan Head Coach Tammy Schaible. “She has a natural leadership quality and drive that will really push us in the back row.  We are looking forward to some great things from her.”
Claire is the daughter of Mark and Kathleen Honeyfield.
