The Flaming Lips’ 1997 experimental album Zaireeka has been called a masterpiece of experimental music. Comprised of four separate recordings intended to be played together on separate stereo systems, this work discusses themes of futurism, technology, and dissonance—in music but also in society. Created to encourage group listening and collaboration, this presentation of the Flaming Lips’ Zaireeka is produced by students in THE116 Technical Theatre, under the direction of Dr. Christopher Smith.
