The Writing Center is staffed by full and part-time professionals and by trained, part-time student tutors. 

The staff is ready to read your writing and offer constructive suggestions and critiques with the goal of helping you develop your skills as a writer.
 
They can help you understand the need for purpose, determining your audience, organization, clear language, good grammar, and mechanical accuracy. 

We work closely with the Learning Center and can provide referrals for more intensive, one-on-one tutoring for specific problems.

Hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday Summer Hours 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Firday Closed Weekends

 

What We Can Do

•         Provide quality tutoring to help you improve your writing

 What We Cannot Do

•         Correct your paper 
•         Write your paper for you
•         Type your paper for you 
•         Take care of every writing problem in one session 
•        Grade your paper                                                                                                                    
•        Negotiate your grade with your instructor

Resources

The Writing Center is equipped with computers on which you can compose and revise assignments and do Internet research.  In addition, we have handouts to help you find discipline-specific Internet sources and learn how to document research.  Instructors work with us by developing critiquing and assignment guidelines so we can best address the problem areas of your paper.  The Writing Center also provides dictionaries, tutorials, thesauruses, and writing handbooks for student reference.
