Benefits of being an Upward Bound Student
As participants in the Trinidad State Junior college Upward Bound Program, students are entitled to various benefits. The benefits are listed below.
- This is a pre- collegiate program for high school and our goal is to help you (the student) become successful.
- We have staffing in place to help you with homework, career planning, college searches etc.
- The program consists of an academic year program and a summer program.
- Opportunities are made during the year for students to visit various colleges, you are exposed to educational and cultural events to visit fun and interesting places.
- College application assistance is provided. Financial aid counseling. ACT and SAT prep workshops,( fee waivers for either testing).
- Students who stay in Upward bound until graduation from High School, maintain good grades, and have good participation will be eligible for the Bridge Program. Upward Bound will pay for your college credits the summer following graduation (up to 6 credit hours) provided that the classes are taken here at Trinidad State Jr. College.
- Students receive opportunities for occupation exploration, social growth and motivational experiences.
- All expenses are paid for during U.B. activities. This includes gate fees, meals, travel and co-insurance.
- A six week on campus program is made available in the summer to expose students to a college campus and experiential hands on education.
- A stipend is issued monthly for good grades and participation.
