A Message from President Dustin Eicke

Welcome to Trinidad State College. Whether you are considering college for the first time, returning after time away, preparing for a new career, planning to transfer, or pursuing a goal you have carried for years, I am glad you are here.

For more than a century, Trinidad State has opened doors for students and strengthened the communities of southern Colorado and beyond. Today, our Trinidad and Valley campuses share a simple commitment: Students First. Here, you will find caring faculty and staff, high-quality and affordable programs, and people who take your goals seriously. We will help you find a path that fits your life, navigate challenges, and prepare for what comes next—whether that is a career, transfer, continued education, or a new sense of what is possible.

This mission is deeply personal to me. My own path to higher education was not a straight line. I am a first-generation college graduate and a United States Navy veteran, and I began my professional life in the skilled trades before finding my way into higher education. Education opened doors I could not have imagined, and it shaped my belief that community colleges are among the most powerful institutions in America. They change lives, strengthen families, and help communities build a stronger future.

That belief is what drew me to Trinidad State. I saw a college with a proud history, remarkable people, and an essential role in this region. I also felt a genuine connection to southern Colorado—its history, landscape, rural communities, and the determination of the people who call it home. My wife, Erika, and I are grateful for the warmth with which we have been welcomed as we put down roots in Trinidad.

As president, I am committed to being visible, accessible, and engaged across both campuses and throughout the communities we serve. I will listen carefully, honor the work that has brought Trinidad State to this moment, and work alongside our students, employees, alumni, schools, employers, and community partners to build that foundation. Above all, we will keep asking the question that matters most:

What do our students need to succeed?

I invite you to explore our programs, visit either campus, attend an event, and meet the people who make Trinidad State special. Whether you are already a Trojan or are just beginning to imagine yourself here, please know that your goals matter, your story matters, and there is always a place for you at Trinidad State.

Warmly,

Dustin Eicke, Ph.D.
