AccessibilityResourceOffice
The Accessibility Resource Office (ARO) works with students to arrange reasonable, individualized accommodations so every qualified student can fully access their education at Trinidad State.

Who We Serve
ARO operates under the mandate of Section 504 and 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Amendments Act of 2008, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability against any "otherwise qualified individual." Individuals seeking accommodations must meet with an Accommodations Specialist and provide documentation to support their request.
Reasonable accommodations are made on a case-by-case basis to ensure educational accessibility. Accommodations offered through a college are different than a typical high school and will not alter the academic standards of a class.
How to Request Accommodations
Accommodations follow four steps, in order. Start as early as possible each semester — accommodations cannot be applied retroactively.
Documentation
Provide documentation showing the disability is current and substantially limits a major life activity, including its impact in a learning environment.
Accommodation Interview
ARO will contact you through your Trinidad State student email to schedule an appointment.
Accommodation Letter
After your interview and documentation are reviewed, ARO issues your accommodation letter for the current semester.
Accommodations must be renewed each semester to remain active.
What Accommodations Can’t Do
Not every requested accommodation is reasonable or appropriate. An accommodation is not appropriate if it would:
If You Disagree With a Decision
If you disagree with the accommodations approved for you, contact ARO so we can discuss your concerns.
